Full description

One application of the Creamed® mineral sunscreen balm, sealed in a single-use pack. Broad spectrum SPF 50 with non-nano zinc oxide 20% as the only sunscreen active, in a format made for a carry-on, a gym bag or a pocket.

What it is

The same balm as the full size Creamed®, portioned for one use. Sunscreen and moisturizer in one step, ten ingredients, nothing to decant and nothing to spill.

Why the single-use format

  • Built for travel: the TSA limits liquids, gels and creams to 3.4 oz (100 mL) per container in a carry-on, and a single-use pack sits well under that
  • Sealed until you open it, so there is nothing to leak into a bag
  • A way to try the balm before buying the full size
  • Easy to keep in a day bag for the reapplication that usually gets skipped

What is in it

  • Broad spectrum SPF 50, non-nano zinc oxide 20% as the only sunscreen active
  • Moisturizer and sunscreen in one step
  • Niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and vitamin E
  • Vegan and cruelty-free
  • Reef safe: no oxybenzone, no octinoxate, no chemical UV filters
  • Formulated to blend across skin tones
  • Small batch, made in Los Angeles

The ten ingredients

  1. Vitis vinifera oil (grape)
  2. Water
  3. Non-nano zinc oxide (20%, sunscreen active)
  4. Candelilla wax
  5. Hyaluronic acid
  6. Sunflower lecithin
  7. Niacinamide (vitamin B3)
  8. Vitamin E
  9. Tea tree oil
  10. Mint oil

That is the entire formula. No synthetic fragrance added, and no proprietary blends.

How to use

Apply generously 15 minutes before sun exposure. Warm the balm between clean fingertips and press it into skin. Reapply at least every 2 hours, and after swimming, sweating or towel drying.

Sun protection measures. Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a broad spectrum SPF value of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures, including limiting time in the sun and wearing protective clothing.

Worth reading first

Short guides, written from TSA, FDA and American Academy of Dermatology sources:

More in the sunscreen guides. The full formula is on the 10 ingredients page, and the full size is Creamed® SPF 50 balm.

Why ten

Ten ingredients, because the eleventh didn't earn a spot.

Every formula starts with a long list. Ours ended when nothing left could justify being on your face every day. Vitis vinifera oil to carry it, zinc oxide to absorb the UV, candelilla to hold it, three actives to make skin better, two oils to make it feel like something, and water. That's the whole story.

The full list

Every ingredient has a job.

No proprietary blends, and no synthetic fragrance added. If it's on your face, it's on this list.

10

ingredients. None you need to look up.

Base · hydration

Vitis vinifera oil

Light, fast-absorbing oil that carries everything else.

Texture

Water

A little, so it spreads instead of drags.

Sunscreen active

Non-nano zinc oxide

The only sunscreen active. Forms a protective layer that absorbs UV, and reflects and scatters some.

Vegan structure

Candelilla wax

Gives the balm its cushion. Plant wax, not beeswax.

Moisture

Hyaluronic acid

Helps skin hold water so it stays plump all day.

Emulsifier

Sunflower lecithin

Keeps the oil and water phases blended so the balm stays smooth.

Tone

Niacinamide

Vitamin B3. Helps skin look more even and calm.

Antioxidant

Vitamin E

Helps protect skin from everyday environmental stress.

Character

Tea tree oil

Part of the fresh, clean character of the balm.

Feel

Mint oil

A clean, cool finish so you notice you put it on.

What each one does, in plain English.

Creamed® vs. the drugstore aisle

Read the label. Then read ours.

Most SPF is built to survive a shelf. Creamed® is built to survive your actual morning.

"Typical sunscreen" describes common mass-market chemical-filter formulas. Read every label for yourself.

How to use

Put it on. Get outside.

One step replaces your moisturizer and your sunscreen. Your morning gets shorter, not your protection.

Shake

Shake the bottle well. Zinc likes to settle. You don't.

Press it in

Dispense a small amount into your hands and apply evenly to your face and body. Warm it, press it, done.

Go live your life

Fifteen minutes before sun. Reapply at least every two hours when you're out in it.

Directions from the label: apply 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every 2 hours. Sunscreen is one part of sun protection; limit time in the sun and wear protective clothing.

Founder-made

One person. One obsession. Two hundred formulas.

Alex Tannenbaum didn't come from beauty. He came from reading a sunscreen label and not recognizing most of it. So he started from zero in his own lab: source the ingredient, test it, keep it only if the balm got better. Two hundred-plus rounds later, ten ingredients were left standing.

That formula is Creamed®. It still gets made the same way, in small batches, by people who put it on their own faces every morning.

If I wouldn't put it on my own face, it doesn't go on yours.

What is Creamed®?

A sunscreen moisturizer. Broad spectrum SPF 50 from non-nano zinc oxide, in a balm with vitis vinifera oil, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and vitamin E. Ten ingredients total. It replaces your moisturizer and your sunscreen in one step.

Why only ten ingredients?

Because every extra ingredient is another thing your skin has to tolerate every day. We kept what made the balm better and cut everything that was only there to make it cheaper, shelf-stable for years, or smell like a candle.

How do I use it?

Shake the bottle well. Dispense a small amount into your hands and apply evenly to face and body. Apply 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapply at least every 2 hours when you're outside. Use it in the morning, and again at night if you want the moisturizer without the sun.

Does it replace my moisturizer?

For most people, yes. It's built as a daily moisturizer first, with SPF 50 inside. If you like a serum underneath, put Creamed® on last, before makeup.

Who is it for?

Everyone with a face. We built it with the LGBTQ community and women in mind, and formulated it for daily use across skin types. It's a balm, not a chalk stick.

Is it a mineral sunscreen?

Yes, in the sense that matters: the only sunscreen active is non-nano zinc oxide (20%), a mineral filter. No oxybenzone, avobenzone or octinoxate. The rest of the formula is skincare, not minerals: vitis vinifera oil, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, vitamin E and candelilla wax.

What does it feel like?

A soft balm that warms as you press it in and finishes like a moisturizer, not a paste. Mint and tea tree oils give it a clean, cool feel for a minute after you put it on.

Is it vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. Candelilla wax instead of beeswax, sunflower lecithin instead of soy. Never tested on animals.

How much do I get, and how long does it last?

1.7 oz (50 mL). For daily face use that's roughly a month. The single-use day pack is for travel, gym bags and forgetting things.
