Why ten

Ten ingredients, because the eleventh didn't earn a spot.

Every formula starts with a long list. Ours ended when nothing left could justify being on your face every day. Grape Oil to carry it, zinc to block it, candelilla to hold it, three actives to make skin better, two oils to make it feel like something, and water. That's the whole story.

Every ingredient has a job.

How to use

Put it on. Get outside.

One step replaces your moisturizer and your sunscreen. Your morning gets shorter, not your protection.

Shake

Shake the bottle well. Zinc likes to settle. You don't.

Press it in

Dispense a small amount into your hands and apply evenly to your face and body. Warm it, press it, done.

Go live your life

Fifteen minutes before sun. Reapply at least every two hours when you're out in it.

Directions from the label: apply 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every 2 hours. Sunscreen is one part of sun protection; limit time in the sun and wear protective clothing.

The serious part

The sun doesn't take weekdays off.

UV reaches your skin on the commute, at the desk by the window, on the walk to lunch. Not just at the beach. That's why the sunscreen that matters most is the one you'll actually wear every day, and why we made ours feel like a moisturizer.

Broad spectrum SPF 15 or higher, used as directed with other sun protection measures, decreases the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun.

UVA + UVB
UVA contributes to skin aging and can pass through clouds and window glass. UVB is the main cause of sunburn. Broad spectrum covers both.

Founder-made

One person. One obsession. Two hundred formulas.

Alex Tannenbaum didn't come from beauty. He came from reading a sunscreen label and not recognizing most of it. So he started from zero in his own lab: source the ingredient, test it, keep it only if the balm got better. Two hundred-plus rounds later, ten ingredients were left standing.

That formula is Creamed. It still gets made the same way, in small batches, by people who put it on their own faces every morning.

If I wouldn't put it on my own face, it doesn't go on yours.

Small batch, on purpose

Made in a lab in Los Angeles, not a vat somewhere.

Every batch is weighed, blended and checked by people who can tell you what each ingredient is for. Small runs mean nothing sits in a warehouse for a year, and nothing gets added to make it survive one.

  • Weighed and blended in small runs
  • Every batch checked before it ships
  • Nothing added just to survive a warehouse

What is Creamed?

A mineral sunscreen moisturizer. Broad spectrum SPF 50 from non-nano zinc oxide, in a balm with grape oil, a hyaluronic complex, niacinamide and vitamin E. Ten ingredients total. It replaces your moisturizer and your sunscreen in one step.

Why only ten ingredients?

Because every extra ingredient is another thing your skin has to tolerate every day. We kept what made the balm better and cut everything that was only there to make it cheaper, shelf-stable for years, or smell like a candle.

How do I use it?

Shake the bottle well. Dispense a small amount into your hands and apply evenly to face and body. Apply 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapply at least every 2 hours when you're outside. Use it in the morning, and again at night if you want the moisturizer without the sun.

Does it replace my moisturizer?

For most people, yes. It's built as a daily moisturizer first, with SPF 50 inside. If you like a serum underneath, put Creamed on last, before makeup.

Who is it for?

Everyone with a face. We built it with the LGBTQ community and women in mind, and we formulated it to blend across skin tones. It's a balm, not a chalk stick.

Is it mineral? Is there any chemical UV filter?

Mineral only. The single active ingredient is non-nano zinc oxide (20%). No oxybenzone, avobenzone, octinoxate or other chemical filters.

What does it feel like?

A soft balm that warms as you press it in and finishes like a moisturizer, not a paste. Mint and tea tree oils give it a clean, cool feel for a minute after you put it on.

Is it vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. Candelilla wax instead of beeswax, sunflower lecithin instead of soy. Never tested on animals.

How much do I get, and how long does it last?

1.7 oz (50 mL). For daily face use that's roughly a month. The single-use day pack is for travel, gym bags and forgetting things.
